Having been struggling to catch up on deadlines and bummed about applying unsuccessfully for day jobs, it was extra wonderful to hold issue 1 of The Nib magazine in my hands. So many cartoonists and writers I admire have work in here, and it was a privilege to be trusted to illustrate journalist Liliana Segura’s story on lethal injection. I have so much respect for her reporting. It was not an easy illustration job (I read my first autopsy report, etc. to get the drawings right), so I hope folks read it and get something out of it. Also, thank you to Michele for looking into what the pupils of people executed under certain circumstances would look like.

On a lighter note, I love Mary Roach’s books and my Dad reads all of her work too, so when I saw that she was interviewed for a comic in here I almost fell out of my chair. (Hi Dad!)
