Current status: Grounded resulting from catastrophic injury.

______ Columbia began life dreaming of the cosmos. His family came from a long line of space-faring dragons, capable of star bound voyages the land dragons could only dream of. Though his race dwindled year by year, Columbia's only wish was to kiss the stars. He grew strong and handsome, admired by his peers. His scales grew in unusual patterns, unique amongst his kin. Though his family asked him to take a mate before his training, Columbia only had eyes for the night sky.

______ Time passed, and Columbia achieved his ultimate dream: when his clan required it of him, he foraged deep into space to explore new places. He grew into a decorated veteran of space travel, bringing vast troves of information and materials back to the clan. His family grew wealthy because of it, though Columbia and his siblings had little use for it. Columbia's achievements were so numerous, he was given a tribal tattoo on his wing of OV-102; it marked the first dragon in a long while to achieve the honor after the clan founder retired from space. As Columbia prospered, so too did his family.

______ One cold, blustery afternoon the dragons of the clan looked up to the sky and saw bright streaking lights. The lights twisted and scattered like leaves, burning up in flares of color. They watched with wariness as the lights turned to a speck, hurtling towards the earth. The speck took form as a dragon, crippled and bloody. Many took flight, racing towards the dragon and attempting to slow its hellish descent. Once they lowered the ragged bundle of flesh and bone to the ground, they realized with distress that it was Columbia.

______ Columbia never spoke of his ordeal. In fact, he never spoke again, living as but a vacant shell. No dragon knows what caused his tumble from the sky. His once elegant scales were scarred and melted, his wings damaged beyond repair. He could no longer fly. His siblings did not expect him to live on with no purpose, yet Columbia persists living, keeping one red eye fixed upon the heavens.
