______ As a powerful seer, Drishti's advice is nearly always sought out before any major decisions involving the acadamy or the surrounding city are made. Though she can’t predict with certainty what will happen, she can see the many possible outcomes--the end of each branching path that life may take--be they good or bad. The council, once informed of these possibilities, will then decide if taking the action is worth any potential risk.

______ Though Drishti was born on the outskirts of the city--which at that time was a small village--to two seemingly average mages, she has lived within the academy's walls since she was a child. Her parents were driven from the town, leaving her behind after being discovered to be Shade cultists; a terrible secret that had been kept even from her.

______ Having heard of the news, Merelani, the academy's founder, ordered Drishti to be brought to her. When she arrived, Merelani could immediately sense the child had an incredible affinity for the Arcane. Knowing the child would neeed training, and having no children of her own, Merelani took her in and raised her as if she were her own daughter.

______ Though Drishti is now grown, she and Merelani remain as close as only a mother and child could. They value each other's advice a great deal; Merelani offering wisdom and experience from the past, and Drishti bringing visions of the future. Together, they watch over the academy--and the rapidly growing city surrounding it--with the most brilliant minds Sornieth has to offer.

______ "Fascinating,” whispered Drishti, a jovial smirk spreading across her lips. “Indeed, I think you may be correct, Jade. You seem to have made quite an interesting friend as a result of your…incident.” She said the last word with a bit of apprehension. She was unsure if such a description was appropriate for such a terrible event, though Jade seemed more phased by the strange presence in the room than Drishti’s lack of tact.

“So, I’m not crazy then?” Jade pleaded, “These…visions. I’m not just imagining them? Something is trying to communicate with me? What does it want?” She was clearly distressed, Drishti could tell by the way Jade nervously picked at one of the numerous opalesque scars that covered her body.

“Relax, my dear.” She layed a calming hand upon Jade’s shoulder. “The easiest way to get your answer is to simply ask the question.”

“I have asked!” Jade said indignantly.

“Not in a way it understands,” Drishti said patiently. She turned towards where she could sense the being standing, and closed her eyes. 'What do you need from us?' Drishti inquired, reaching out with her mind. 'Why have you come here?'

Suddenly, her mind was filled with a jumble of rapidly changing images, sounds, and feelings. It was no wonder Jade found the visions so overwhelming; Drishti herself was only barely able to take it all in.

“Ah,” She said simply, with a nod of understanding.

“What? What did it say?” Jade cried.

“He wants to go home.”

“Home? Where’s that?”

“Nowhere we can reach, I’m afraid,” She sighed. Turning her attention back to their guest, she took her shimmering cloak from her shoulders, and carefully placed it over the being. Suddenly there was a silhouette where there seemed only to be empty space before.

“Take this, my friend. May it bring you some comfort; your stay here may be much longer than you’d hoped,” She said sadly.
