"To welcome Death is to welcome Defeat"
If only the Fates were kind. Death would have been better than to walk the world as a shadow. Deep within the Tangled Wood stood a pair from the Beacon of the Radiant Eye were looming and gently tending their nest. They would soon become proud parents of three hatchlings soon to hatch in the wake of the New Moon like themselves. If only the Fates were kind... On the Eve of the Blessed New Moon, the eggs showed signs of an early hatching. The three hatchlings hatched and opened their eyes to dark woods, alone and cold. Abandoned and left to die, they couldn’t understand why. Why were they alone? Where were their parents? The calm comforting voices they have heard while within their shells now are silent. The hatchling’s early lives were thrusted into a dangerous world without guidence and thus they took comfort with each other. Struggling to survive and they were surviving. While they searched for their parents or for answers as to why they were left behind they heard some smaller clans name them; his eldest sister - Famine, his older sister - Pestilence, and him War. The clans would continue to wander around; sometimes wonder if the hatchlings would follow them but he knew their reasoning to leave them. Death always follow silently and for three hatchlings in search for answers, Death lingers close. And almost had their claws around Pestilence. A plague had began to ravaged her after their close encounter with a Mossy Cerdae. Famine tried her hardest to be strong as the eldest, but War wanted to be stronger for his sisters. Perhaps their luck would improve when they saw a pair of wolf-looking dragons. Both which looked equally surprised to see the younglings. Finally, help arrived, but short lived. The two females had agreed to help them but only Pestilence could join them to their clan. War was furious and yet Famine agreed as long as they could possibly gather some information from them seeing that they seemed to know who they were. The two were named Nyx and Silvya and they were Moonbeasts. The pair also knew their parents, Gabriel and Vivian and scoffed about how Sunbeam Ruins natives should expect oddities when nesting in the Tangled Wood - being opposites and all. It was then the pair asked Famine when they were born. Apparently, according to the pair, the siblings were abandoned because they hatched a day too early for the New Moon. War’s ears rang with anger. The Bloody Moon was what determined their fate? A day too early was what plummeted him and his sisters through hell and heartache, through treacherous pains and clawing their way to survive. Famine helped bring him back to reality when she claimed that while Pestilence was going with them back to their home clan within the Southern Icefields, she would head towards their parent’s homeland, the Sunbeam Ruins. War was shocked. How could she want to go anywhere near that wretched place...knowing full well that their parents resided anywhere? She claimed to have her own reasons as she snapped at him. War sadly watched as his sisters left their separate ways leaving him in the Tangled Woods, alone. His hard work to keep them together, to be strong for them and like their parents they abandoned him. It was then he’d get stronger for him. To prove that he survived. That no moon will determine his fate and only he will determine his future. He traveled all along the Tangled Woods, carefully avoiding the borders of the Sunbeam Ruins. He will get stronger but he also didn’t expect to run into massive cliffs overlooking the Sea of a Thousand Currents and further down the border stood a small port that were currently home to two massive ships and curiosity got the better of him. |
"I will no longer be a Shadow awaiting Death"![]() ![]() One could say stealth wasn’t War’s speciality. When he grew curious of the ships so did the other’s who worked on them about him. They didn’t really worry about the youngling and assumed it was his curiosity. From what War gathered was that there were two captains of those ships and he was going to see who they were. From what he could see the ships were named Wolf Song and The Raven’s Call, he felt like he have heard of them before but cannot remember where the tales were told. Soon there was a loud banging of a door being opened and there he saw the Captains for the first time. The first to exit was a large Imperial that was dark like the sea with red along his wings edge with a black wolf pelt over him. He was regal and yet held a power unknown. The second Imperial was almost equally large with dark ebony armor and a large trident on his belt. They appeared to be friends as they started towards the docks. It wasn’t until a pair of dark Pearlcatchers walked up to the Captains, before turning towards himself. He held his breath hoping to become the shadows that he was born in. Then, the Pearlcatcher with the yellow banner had disappeared while the other in red started to walk towards him. It wasn’t until he felt a hand grab him when he discovered that the one in yellow had gone around while his friend walked towards him. “Tollund there’s no need to frieghten the youngling.” The one in yellow; Tollund laughed, “Well someone had to teach him the lesson of stealth, Claeg.” The one in red; Claeg rolled his eyes as he gestured to War, “The Captains wish to see the one who’s been snooping around the ships and crew, youngling.” War was nervous, but he was strong, he was brave, and he’s survived this long so he’ll keep surviving. His temper starting to flare as he frowned at the two Pearls but followed none-the-less. The Captains watched as their First Mates returned with a youngling. The dark Imperial laughed as they all came closer while the other kept a more stoic yet slightly curious gaze down at War. Claeg went to stand by the wolf wearing Imperial while Tollund stood by the dark armor clad Imperial. The wolf wearer was the one to speak first, his voice was deep and smooth, it almost sent chills down War’s spine; “So you’re the shadow whose been wondering around eh?” War frown, refusing to bow to anyone, hating the feeling of weakness. The darker Imperial smirked, “Oi Ragnar, no need to be so serious. The youngling is just curious. Though from his appearance I wonder...” He paused slightly before turning towards War, “Boy, do you have older sisters?” War frowned and was confused, “I have two older sisters but so does anyone. What are you thinking, old man?” The Imperial Captains were shocked by the youngling’s defiance but soon laughed. The wolf wearer; Ragnar, looked to the darker, “Well Herleifr, answer the boy, he has a valid argument.” The dark Imperial; Herleifr smirked, “I guess you’re right.” Finally! War was getting fed up with these mind games, he didn’t know who these Captains think they are, his curiosity is satisfied, and he wanted to go hunt so he won’t sleep hungry tonight. Of course when Herleifr turned back towards him, he couldn’t help but get a chill. “Well it’s just that you looked like a lass we had met off yonder in the Sunbeam Ruins. What was her name...Famine? Or something like that? Got to know her and she’s worried about her brother. You’re War aren’t you?” War felt his anger rise as Claeg and Tollund took a step back. How dare she claim to worry for him when she adandoned him. Smiles have become stern amongst the Captains as the anger pulsed out of the youngling. “She is no sister of mine.” War snarled as he turned to walk away only to be stopped by a strong hand on his shoulder. He was met with a serious expression on Herleifr’s face. He wanted to jerk away and slink back to the shadows but something told him to wait. “I thought so. After hearing about your story, we started to hear more of your travels. You’ve became quite a story boy but I’m not liking the predicted ending. I want you to join my crew.” War didn’t know what to say and soon realized that Ragnar and his First Mate had started back towards their ship. Tollund was smirking as Herleifr continued, “We’re recruiting young bloods and we can help you get stronger. Plus you’ll get to become a larger legend by joining the infamous Raven’s Call; allies of the even more infamous Wolf Song.” Tollund rolled his eyes with a smirk as Herleifr laughed. War was confused further until Tollund wrapped an arm around his shoulders, “You’ll have shelter, there’s plenty of food, and gain a family. There’s no need to feel abandoned anymore. No family is closer than a ship crew.” Soon they all started to walk towards the Raven’s Call. Only before they climbed on Herleifr had Tollund board before him so he could have a few words with his new charge. War started to get a little weary until Herleifr placed a hand on his head his face stoic, “Boy, I will help you stronger, but you will learn you’re own path. I will not force you to stay if you choose to leave, only that I hope you realize that your family or your lineage doesn’t define you.” Then he turned to board his ship. War stood there surprised. It was as if a burden had lifted off of him and more crumbled off his back with every step onto the vast ship. The air was sweeter than ever...must be the taste of freedom. |

War was wondering around the varied shops that appeared during the festival. He came across a mysterious figure who mentioned his name and curiosity got the better of him. She started shuffling cards until she was satisfied and began to read them:
- Personality - DEATH: War has a personality that seeks change and transformation through carnage. He will seek out battle to better himself, and believes that through bloodshed he can become truly powerful. In this same vein, he sees his life as a series of little deaths from which he has been reborn--the child in him killed with the rejection of his parents, and the warrior reborn in battle.
- Goals - 5 WANDS (rev): He seeks both glory and unity in battle, desiring a family of his own earned by his own claws. Someday he hopes to lead and be respected as he greatest among warriors, but his own doubts overshadow his desires.
- Past - HEIROPHANT (rev): Rules and tradition dictated War's life up until he fell in with the Vikings, where tradition remained important but he found himself unbound to it. He resists rules and traditions, often becoming flippant and irreverent when they are pressed upon him, and occasionally suffers from nightmares that feature his father.
- Current Situation - QUEEN PENTACLES (rev): War finds himself in a bountiful place, but he himself feels cold and barren. While he loves his newfound family dearly and appreciates the chance he's been given, he can't help but feel like something's missing, and he feels as though he won't be truly reborn until he knows what it is.
He wasn’t sure if she was even addressing him or just stating facts of him but he was slightly creeped out by the accuracy of her reading and continued on his way.
Soon he came across another female figure who claimed to be able to answer any question. And so he decided to ask her a question that seems to haunt him lately;
"Will I ever find happiness like the rest of my clan mates?"

"You have been asked to sacrifice much in the past - your ability to trust, your attachments, even parts of your self. Right now, you need to be learning from that past. Otherwise, you will continue to sabotage your own chances at happiness!"

Moonbeast Descendant Alpha Moonshadow Coloration "Moonshadow" MUST BE BORN ON A NEW MOON -Born 1 day early- Moon at Birth: 5% Waning Crescent Similar to werewolves, Moonbeasts undergo a Moon-influenced transformation. However, there are major differences. All have a permanent beast-like appearance and by night they 'lose control' becoming savage, bloodthirsty, and destructive. The degree to which they lose control depends on the phase of the moon. Physical features such as claws, fangs, and muscular build might become more pronounced and exaggerated as the moon phase progresses towards Full. Some Moonbeasts have worked so hard to discipline themselves that they only lose complete control on nights of a Full Moon. |
