I can't hear any sound samples when I click on the play buttons whats up with that?

It's not my PC because my sound is working.

have you tried waiting for a longer time?
sometimes it takes quite long before i hear anything.
Another reason could be you have deactivated sound for flash. Try if you have sound on other flash files.
I once heard a very strange thing... Someone hat multiple sound output channels at his PC. On one of that channels the sound worked except for flash files. He put his speakers into one of the other channels and he had sound... A very strange thing, indeed, but you should try it.

I waited 5 minutes after clicking on play and nothing happened. I also tried playing my other wav.files and I have sound on them I don't understand it I have been to the site before and all samples played just fine I even downloaded some of the Dragon sounds that you guys have on the site and as far as the channels go I only have one speaker port to plug into if thats what you are talking about. Thanks for the quik responce Connum to my post.

try closing all other windows or tabs you might have open and then refresh the page with the samples you're looking at.

Hi,

I am using Firefox on my Mac (Intel), OS X (10.4.6), and I can't get the sound samples to play (download is fine though). The samples don't work in Safari either. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong?

well, im using firefox, (the latest version) and everything seems to be working for me, so i dont think your browser is the problem. For me (i dont know why this happens) if you click on the file name, and get the larger picture with the description etc, then it plays, but when i just click the small triangular play button, they dont...
Im not sure why it happens, but if you do what i do, and get the larger screen it will hopefully work for you, if not, i cant help you anymore.
Hope it goes well,
kokuya.

I am having the same problem as Kokuya on Firefox on the PC. Some times the search result page play button doesn't work. Occasionally it does and when it does, it usually works for a whole page of search results. It may have to do with the file type of the original sound, though I haven't looked that closely.

make sure you don't have any other tabs or windows open with flash players. It's a known bug in firefox.

I am having the same problem in 2025. When i open the website NO MATTER WHICH BROWSER I USE OR HOW MANY TABS ARE OPEN, the sounds do not play. However, when I open the sound by clicking on the link then the player works. This is a website coding error, there should be a review but the broken link icon appears on EVERY SINGLE SOUND on the homepage.

Same problem. Using Freesound on my Mac for years - never had any problems. But today the waveforms are building up extremely slow and I can't play or download any sound file. Every other website works fine. Tested it with 5 browsers on 2 computers.

I can't load any previews or download anything. The pages load just fine, but clicking on the previews just does nothing, and trying to download anything gives you an immediate "site not found" error.

Hey all !
Yes, since yesterday, samples are a bit long to load for me too... But after a few seconds, they play. properly.
Maybe a small something to fix ?
Wishing you all the best !

Chiming in to also say that the sounds aren't working as well, like others here have said.

Did any of you have that problem too? It also won't play anything for me too and sometimes I can't even download them. This is my main resource for sounds for my Powerpoints and animations
