As Karl Popper realized years ago in the so-called Paradox of tolerance, a democratic and tolerant society that respects everyone's rights and freedoms can only survive if it is intolerant of intolerance itself. Similarly, in a democracy, the only utterly unacceptable political beliefs are ones that are opposed to democracy itself.
With the xenophobic, racist, homophobic, anti-Semitic, Islamophobic and generally anti-democratic far-right groups on the rise across Europe and America, emboldened by things like Donald Trump's election and subsequent behavior, it is important for all of us to keep our eyes open, and speak out against the alt-right, neo-Nazis, and other forms of white supremacists. Whether in our daily lives, our local and national politics, or in our free time and fandom.
Thus, I repeat: Nazi Furs Fuck Off.
