I’ve decided on the name for the fictional town in which my characters will dwell in. Say hello to Dragon Falls, WA! A zany little piece of paradise nestled in between nature’s beauty and the town’s beautiful waterfalls. It’s perpetually stuck in the early 1990s, where things like smartphones and social media don’t exist. Here, we have CRT TVs with antenna, pull down window shades like you’d see in old cartoons, slap bracelets and Fruit by the Foot, and old school computers that use floppy disks. Oh, there’s lots of food places! The city is populated by a variety of cartoon characters and toony anthropomorphic animals.

Ranpan is a cop for the Dragon Falls Police Dept., having accepted a transfer here after he and Filbo decided a nice change of scenery would do them and their boys well, especially given their toony nature. Filbo ended up becoming mayor when the old one decided to take a vacation, but then resigned while on it, and Filbo decided to take the job. They live in the city, in a cozy apartment situated near some of the city’s best food places, also being in close proximity to town hall, the police precinct, and the boys’ school.

Indigo, Nugget, and Zephyr all attend Dragon Falls Elementary, where Indigo likes to casually let it rip, to the chagrin of his teachers and some of the kids, though some find his farts funny, even if they do clear a room. Nugget is the most prone to trouble, where he plays pranks on the teachers and his fellow peers. He’s also the most aggressive, having bonked a couple of kids on the noggin with a wooden mallet he carries for some reason. Zephyr tends to be the most behaved, though he does like to show off his musical talents, and when he gets to dancing, there’s no stopping him from prancing about.

They try to behave, but given they’re toons, it’s hard to put a cork on their wild, exaggerated, cartoony nature. Given they are the sons of the city’s mayor and one of the town’s most popular cops, they are well liked by their peers, for the most part. Bullies don’t bother them, unless they want a concussion from Nugget’s mallet. They tend to get As and Bs on their report cards, Zephyr’s favorite subject is music, Nugget’s is art, and Indigo likes PE since it’s where he can let loose his toots. Indigo hates language arts, while Nugget and Zephyr both despise math with a passion.

Anday has come along, he’ll always be Ranpan’s dutiful squad car, and he’s practically family to the Fiddlepie-Peridye family. He’s also more often than not the kids’ nanny, also a reluctant accomplice to some of their mischief.

But what about girls? My boys possess a similar mindset as I did towards girls as a kid, “Ew, cooties!” Zephyr tends to get the most attention, though Indigo tells his little brother the best way to get rid of girls is to simply fart.
