I want to walk through the empty streets
Feel something constant under my feet
But all the news reports recommended
I stay indoors
And we'll become silhouettes when our bodies finally go.
Something I have wanted to paint for a long time, but only just now got around to. Fallout 3 is an awesome game, tho the hardest part of it was always trying to keep Dogmeat alive. ;]

i don't know the game. its that moment though, after the end and before the beginning, when the opportunity is there, to begin the rebuilding in a wiser way that avoids the causes of the end we're currently inflicting on ourselves by the unwisdom of our priorities, that always absolutely fascinates me. all that conflict stuff. that's mostly for games. not that there won't be some, but of course games exagerate and emphisise that aspect of it. but that's not the aspect that interests me.
the car is no longer practical, no one is pumping oil or mining coal, nature is reclaiming everything, and those who know and respect the land, and understand how it works, are going to out survive those who think they will by taking by force what they want. that moment when they've pretty much killed each other off. not the mad max moment, which is all well and entertaining for games, but the moment AFTER that moment, when the tiny fraction of sapience that remains, are creatively inventing their own social structures, unconstrained by assumptions that are prevalent now, mostly because existing interests want the to be.
when what we think we know now has proven how wrong it has been, and we're faced with the realities we've been denying ourselves, not just the challanges, but what game designers, basing on familiar assumptions often over look, or don't even imagine, the opportuniites, the diverse abundance of oppertunities, to get right, or at least a lot closer to it.
you know, without the crushing weight of the excessiveness of human population we have today.
you know, that's a world that will come if we go on the way we are heading. but at some point, after the rivers have mostly cleared themselves, and the land is growing back, so you have a situation with the land and life in it, much like people faced thousands of years ago, but with still a lot of memory and documantaion of the advancements we have now, solar cells, batteries, wind power generators and so on.
that kind of a mix, and leaving the mad max world behind. you know, that's the kind of fantasy that is in my own imagination. and i suppose that may not be what you intended, but that is what i see, when i look at something like this, and why i so much love it.

Fallout 3 is easily my favourite game! I can't wait for 4. I had a similar issue with Dogmeat and couldn't handle the stress of keeping him alive so I left him at 101 and just pretended there was some family there "taking better care of him than I ever could".
And you might find this amusing! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hm0guGPQbqg

Really nice picture, Awesome how well you made all the detail there, both the character and background look awesome =D
But... Sorry if I say my opinions that are bit down-pressing on Fallout 3 ^^" I'm just rather long-time Fallout fan. As much Fallout 3 is great, I have to say New Vegas made it all just lot better ^^" For me that is as well so because NV was made by people who worked on original Fallout games, so they knew what they were doing. If comparing FO 3 with NV, it has just lot more variety to offer...
And... I don't actually get it, I have played FO 3 several times and Dogmeat hasn't ever died on me >_>" One hilarious instance was that he was attacking a Talon merc shooting him with a shotgun, and he also blew up a nearby car wreck... Merc became mince meat and Dogmeat was gone... Until he ran from somewhere back to me! XD I swear I am not cheating!
