Hello! I've been thinking 'bout this for a while but; I wanted to apologize for using the word "antebellum" in my description of this image. I wasn't as aware of the meaning of the term when I used it. I realize now that it was inappropriate and harmful to attribute the antebellum (pre-civil war) south to nostalgic/positive/good old days vibes. I am now aware of the historical significance of romanticizing that time period, where southern whites were comfortably practicing slavery, and how depictions of the lazy, soothing countryside and 'beautiful' plantations were used (and still are) to downplay the horrors of slavery & make white people yearn for "simpler" times. Art from that era can certainly be appreciated in the context of art history and technique, but associating it specifically with the antebellum south as a positive was incorrect and harmful to black Americans still experiencing the fallout of slavery that is still so ingrained in todays American culture.
Sorry for my essay of a comment, but I felt like it was something that I needed to address! ^^; I do want to reiterate how gorgeous your style is though, and I love the colors and moods you create. <3
