Butterfly's Vibrance

A butterfly flutters through their beautiful meadow home, as peacefully as a leaf dancing in a soothing spring breeze. Heading to no true destination in particular, just stopping by a few vibrant flowers dotting the gentle grassy slopes that borders a calm pond. At least until a foreign presence felt nearby, the peaceful meandering flight becoming more directed as the butterfly heads toward this unfamiliar being, a large feline resting just at the pond’s calm edge. Sporting an unusual amount of fluffy fur cradling his head and neck area.

Quite an intriguing visitor to the butterfly flying closer, as despite his larger form and foreign appearance, the lion’s calm nature manages to blend in with the serene environment’s aura quite well. Only a slight spark of energy as the butterfly’s colorful wings capture the lion’s attention, glancing towards with a smile and a perking of his fuzzy ears. The lion’s already steady breathing slowing even further, settling the idle sway of his tail to appear as inviting as possible to the butterfly, a resident of this meadow to come rest with him.

Once closer the lion ever so carefully extends his arm towards the butterfly, offering his finger as a landing spot, still bearing that warm inviting smile. Thankfully to him the butterfly kept fluttering closer, undeterred until that gentle touch. The lion’s smile grew a bit more as the butterfly’s majestic wings finally took a bit of a rest. Every few seconds opening and closing in an idle manner, their colors glowing as they reflect the sun’s golden rays showering down from above. As much as he wanted to give a gentle touch of his own, he refrained from doing so, just calmly observing.

A slight giggle soon vibrates his chest, noticing the opening and closing of the butterfly’s wings began to match the pace of his steady breaths. Intrigued, the lion held his breath for a brief moment, to which the butterfly held its beautiful wings still in their outward position. “Hmmmmm…” the lion narrowed his eyes then tilted his head, waiting for another few seconds as the butterfly remained motionless. Then letting out a deep exhale, just as expected the butterfly’s wing movements resumed. He couldn't hold back a sudden burst of laugher from escaping his maw, unable to tame his amusement.

For about another half hour the two enjoyed each other’s company. The lion sitting comfortably in the soft grass while the butterfly explored his paw. Just as curious about the foreign feline visitor as he was of the butterfly. Albeit noticeably delighted, comforted to share some company with a beautiful delicate aviator as the day slipped by. He certainly hadn’t intended to stay so long, only looking for a short break. But finding such lovey company, combined with the meadow’s atmosphere made it that much harder for him to continue on. He even began finding himself debating whether to continue on his journey or just stay here. But Mother Nature soon made the decision for him, a sudden soft breeze blowing through the area that tickled his mane, almost giving the butterfly a slight nudge that spurred its wings to life. The lion let off a sigh, ears flattening as the butterfly took flight once again with the mesmerizing flapping of those impressive wings. At least fluttering near him for another minute or two before heading off.

“Guess I’d better keep going.” The lion said to himself with a slight yawn, along with a few awkward stretching movements to loosen himself up before getting to his feet. Making another short flurry of stretching movements before he placed one paw to the soft grass in front of him, followed by the other as he walked towards the nearby forest edge. Not without a soft wave towards the butterfly who danced gently above a collection of flowers. A final goodbye before continuing his lengthy trek towards… well who the heck knows? Dexter’s always got some adventure or place to explore in mind, outside of hours of lazy flopping of course. Excited for the destination no doubt, but always cherishing the vast treasures of discoveries and people he meets along the way…
