Magnis is a dragoness who often masquerades as a smaller creature / adventurer in an effort to grow her treasure hoard. Due to a fluke (her own hubris) - her consumption of several magic items resulted in a literal dungeon to coalesce inside her. She is remarkably unbothered by this fact.
4th of 5 dragon siblings, Magnis's efforts to acquire treasure and territory the traditional dragon way (conquest) were frustrated by the easily claimed regions being already taken. It didn't help that one of her siblings had already managed to draw the ire of several dragonslaying campaigns, further setting back her efforts abroad.
Instead Magnis went discrete and decided to grow her hoard before claiming a spot to set up shop as it were. Using shapeshifting she went under cover as a serpentine rogue and joined a group of thieves to steal valuable items and artifacts directly. She also exploited the extradimensional space that accompanies dragonic shape shifting (re: hammer space) to act as a lesser bag of holding by simply eating treasure as she came across it so she could thief-about hands free.
Of course this backfired spectacularly when she tried to devour an Orb of Expansion in an effort to further cheat inventory slot restrictions. The orb simply annealed itself to the pre-existing dimensional space and combined with all the other items she was already storing to form a dungeon inside her. Further more the dungeon simply expands when sufficient items are available so further treasure storage just resulted in a bigger dungeon. Magnis' apparent external mass does not change at all to reflect this: she remains the same outside despite containing the volume of what (currently) amounts to a small town.
Her take on it is that its neat. Technically it results in her having a higher CR - and in her draconic vanity she sometimes wears it as a badge of pride when in the company of other monsters. Though, she's not as keen to advertise it openly; as fun as it is to dupe adventurers into jumping down her throat, the last thing she needs is a group of dungeon delvers or dragon slayers tracking her down like her siblings.
However, eating treasure now gives her a tingly feeling of satiety (especially magic items), so she flirts with posing as an adventurer or even recruiting them from time to time to acquire delicious goodies. Its much more fun than guarding a hoard in a damp cave and she gets to see all sorts of crazy locations. Plus the XP ain't too shabby either.
And if anyone gets too uppity with her while she's on a treasure hunt? She's not adverse to reminding them that she is still a dragon - whether that involves an demonstration of strength, or simply adding them to her personal collection inside.
