Yeah writing isn’t actually easy, Bender. You’re just writing whatever comes to the top of your head lol.
But seriously, I was pleasantly surprised when I saw the first episode of Futurama’s new revival. It just won’t stay dead! Honestly, the fact that I enjoyed myself enough so far really feels good for me, because frankly, Futurama is one of my personal favorites! It honestly felt like reuniting with a close friend after being separated for years. (Yeah I know that’s cheesy as that sounds) I’m not gonna spoil too much, but part of the plot centers around making as many episodes as possible of All My Circuits to keep Fry alive. (It makes more sense in the context of the situation.) So Bender takes over the role of head writer after all the writers of the show have passed out over how much they have been working. It does make it sound like commentary of writers being replaced by AI, but I really do think it’s cutting it short. Bender has MUCH more sentience than ChatGPT. His poor writing came from this mentality that writing is easy, and he could just write whatever came to the top of his head that could pass as All My Circuits material. I think it was criticism for the mentality many people have when it comes to writing. The idea that it’s so easy, that the work can just easily be done by an algorithm instead. Also it’s not the first time Bender was overconfident in his abilities XD
And to be honest, I had a similar mentality too… I one time wrote a script (still unfinished) based on whatever colorful details I could add that came off the top of MY head only to end up with characters that were just spoofs of old horror B-Movie character cliches…
