Beyond The Office
And The Responsibilities That Go With It
Good scientists always report to their superiors, and any failure to disclose critical information when asked is deeply frowned upon.
The best scientists find a way to finish their projects on time and under budget. While special research may require a degree of flexibility, regular reports and timely tests ensure that projects continue smoothly and capable of informing non-scientists of the details in a precise and understandable way.
The nuclear sciences are a dangerous field and as such, proper lab safety is strictly enforced under the penalty of immediate termination.
It is the duty of a good scientist to follow smart procedures so as to protect themselves and others from contamination and ruining an experiment.
Eye washing stations can be found in every laboratory in case of a chemical spill. Should a spill extend beyond the face, a select few laboratories have been fitted with high-pressure showers to serve the same purpose.
As a secondary mode of precaution, all scientists are encouraged to have eye protection in the form of safety goggles.
Quality goggles will securely protect the eye from all angles and are capable of keeping air-born toxins from irritating the eyes.
In the case of a chemical leak, respiration masks have also been provided in each laboratory.
Good scientists also wear proper body protection. Gloves can be easily found and should remain well-stocked at all times.
Labcoats are highly encouraged, though not required. The additional layer of fabric is beneficial for avoiding contact between the chemicals and human skin.
Safety is always among the utmost priority for all good scientists. The rigid adherence to the principles outlined here will ensure a safe, well contained, scientific endeavor.
