The cargo ship carries volatile cargo every now and then, and this time it was moving boxes full of inflatable innertubes that had strict instructions not to touch without proper protective equipment (for some reason). Well, nobody told Cheesecake, and he ended up knocking over a box of them. Not thinking much of it, he started picking them up, suddenly realizing he was becoming somewhat squeaky and inflated! He thought it was pretty neat, so when one of the other crewmembers came looking for him, he decided to show them first-hand how neat it was! I'm sure sending one person at a time to investigate the increasing number of missing crew is the right choice to make here!
