Jerry tugged at his ears, and started to blush
They tingled and wiggled with every touch
His panic did little, his sputtering “no”s
Only teased out more magic that disfigured his toes
Jerry shivered and shook, his ears horizontal,
While Alex, his friend, was just holding onto
A rounded deer nose, that bulged out ahead
And shimmered, first dimly, in soft shades of red
His whole face had barreled, the rest of it white
And fuzzy, safe for his leathery nose-light
Alex’s antlers began to poke out
His ears flicked through his hair and shimmied about
Jason’s tail wagged with a mind of its own
Fluffing out more all around his tailbone
Which jutted up proud like a flag that was raised
And flipped back and forth like a dog being praised
Jason’s blush grew much deeper than Jerry right then
For no thing embarrassed him more than his friends
All watching him stumble, his tail wagging free
Even though none of his friends cared to see
It’s not that they cared– they would if it wasn’t
For all of the changes, of which there were dozens
For one, Cedar’s fur, from his hooves that were clopping
Crept down his arms with no sign of it stopping
Cedar called out, with a tone of ‘half-bleat’
“I just can’t be-e-lieve it you guys, it’s so neat!”
He bunched up the sleeves of the hoodie he donned
His long ears tickling with the fur that it spawned
All of their ears, some tall, some askew,
Seemed to reveal the fun difference in hue
In all of their fur, their coats so unique
Lending the rein-boys a special mystique
Jerry’s face showed of , his snout overtook
His thin nose, now flat like the spine of a book
He gripped at his muzzle, both hands at the wheel
Only reaching more fur everywhere he would feel
From his line of sight he could spot his dark sniffer
Bringing more fur which just made his heart dither
His whole face grew fuzzy, with a cool mocha coat
While his chin sprouted more, like the fuzz of a goat
Jerry's antlers stood tall as they made themselves known,
Just like Jason’s legs, who had similarly grown:
His ankles had risen, and now made him look
Like a deer, but one whose legs wobbled and shook
Lucky his hands, which were human-ly able
Could brace his new body against the wood table
As he balanced himself on his big clopping digits
His nose puckering up with each of its fidgets
Jason kept it together, as best as he could,
But he could feel fur growing under the hood
His sweatpants bunched up, their state in a pickle,
And the side of his thighs had just started to tickle
Jason waved them away, fearing the worst
His clothing not holding, as if they were cursed
Luckily, Jason’s friends paid him no mind
For Jerry and Cedar were preoccupied
Jerry looked back, averting his vision
And try as he might, he found himself wishing
That he didn’t like this as much as he did
So he covered his nose and bashfully hid
His neck– thick with fur; his antlers climbed taller
And jingling below, emerged a red collar
Jerry, despite all of his reservations
Had the head of a reindeer with no explanation
His collar was cute though, like something he’d earned
It fit snug and jingled each time that he turned
He couldn’t admit with his hand o’er his face
But this feeling of deer-ness was hard not to embrace
Cedar rested his fuzzy wrist next to his chin
And gleamed “look at you!” to his Rudolph-y kin
Cedar’s antlers had started, but couldn’t compare
To Alex's set which branched out from his hair
Jason swiveled around, his tilted nose raised
Towards Alex, now posing, awaiting some praise
His human hand formed in a V ‘neath his chin
And dazzled a stance with a sticking-out grin
His muzzle completed, in fur black-and-white
But the star of the show was his red nostril-light
It dazzled and sparkled, and framed his furred face
While his own red collar snapped into its place
Cedar and Alex shared in jubilation
While Jerry and Jason held more trepidation
The four of them, without a clue what to do
Knew now that the only way out would be through<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
