A sonnet I wrote as I was inspired by a splash of a deep crimson across one of he the clouds I saw tonight at sunset. Sunset here in Arizona is beautiful and absolutely gorgeous.
At sunset, red is splashed across the sky
and orange and royal blue together mix
and open to the world the river Styx
whose light is seen by souls who to it fly.
The gloaming brings us beauty from on high
as well within it stars it will affix
to light the world and every heart transfix;
night follows soon and nature heaves a sigh.
A mem’ry I hold dear from long ago:
a morning in a place I’d often dwell
lights up the dark and pacifies my dreams.
Illusions shimmer and soft winds will blow;
it threads my hair makes my heart to swell
as twilight calms my heart and soul it seems.
At sunset, red is splashed across the sky
and orange and royal blue together mix
and open to the world the river Styx
whose light is seen by souls who to it fly.
The gloaming brings us beauty from on high
as well within it stars it will affix
to light the world and every heart transfix;
night follows soon and nature heaves a sigh.
A mem’ry I hold dear from long ago:
a morning in a place I’d often dwell
lights up the dark and pacifies my dreams.
Illusions shimmer and soft winds will blow;
it threads my hair makes my heart to swell
as twilight calms my heart and soul it seems.
