Xmas 2012: Lil' Stinky To The Rescue!
Last weekend at the "Children's Train" in Springdale, AR, both my Pennsy locomotives (EP-5 and F-7) became inoperable (when opened for repairs this weekend, I found both had had the same wire to the motor come off! Go figure!). Fortunately, Lil' Stinky, brought along largely for grins and giggles, was up to pulling a slightly truncated Broadway Limited for the delectation of the kiddies! :)
And, of course, gi-raffes were present. ^.^

Ha. Me and you were doing the same thing this weekend. I was asked to do a train set up at a "Breakfast with Santa" thing on Saturday. Had the same problem except my Lionel FA-1 blew a gear completely, and one of my old Lionel 1033 scout engines started going slower and slower until she started blowing smoke (with no smoke unit) and I thought it best to stop her.
However my little crap Marx 999 I bought for $15 ran for four hours without a problem. I managed to keep a second 1033 and a 1988 General going long enough to finish the show.
Where the hell did you get a mustard yellow K-Line station?

This is one reason we both bring spare engines! ^.^
As for the station, it was a train show find; and it's actually an original Marx.
I'm gonna get a bunch of those self-adhesive flat weights, add a few ounces ballast and turn Lil' Stinky into a stump-puller.
