a patch that removes the black bar that is shown in the screenshot

Motivation

with the removal of the black bar the app looks better in landscape

I assume the black bar is where your camera hole punch or notch is at. The black bar is there because the camera interferes with using the area.

Most devices have an operating system setting to use fullscreen and not show the bars, at the expense of the camera covering up part of the content.

The screenshot you show of Chrome wont work with any patches unless a MicroG patch is created (not worth the effort for such a small change).

I'm not sure if there's anyway to force an app to use fullscreen and always use the camera area.

I'm closing this unless someone can show evidence that this can be somehow forced thru a manifest change or by programmatically calling some code and it works on any app.
