I agree that some analytics would be nice; though I'd prefer them to be publicly available; not only visible to the person who has set them up.

Google doesn't have such functionality; but from what I know Piwik (the one used by GitLab) has. The problem is: somebody has to set up the server, as they do not have free hosting plan.
