How usage actually works with postgres?

Here is documentation that says his query log information is available from WITHIN the database in the following services:

But as far as I know postgres do not store any query logs by default. It is needed to turn then on. Is this action required before openmetadata setup with postres? Or openmetadata uses another mechqnism (what exacly) for getting queries?
