Why me?
An expert in Data Science and AI, with a non-traditional background
I’ve been a Data Scientist for over a decade, with eight of those years working on AI at Google. I have lots of experience working on data applications for AI, mostly in the form of human-generated data. I wrote the Unofficial Google Data Science Blog post on the topic. And most recently, my role was exclusively focused on AI. I am now the Staff Data Scientist at Delphos Labs, which seeks to automate reverse engineering and secure software against a new generation of threats.
I have a MSc in Statistics from UIUC, which I finished in 2015. Before then, I lived in Kazakhstan for a long time, exploring some unusual places and seeing things most people don’t.
No doubt, I have a very unconventional journey into this industry, working in education and international development, insurance and now tech. I take this as a strength. My career has been one of big pivots and new opportunities. I’ve thrilled at the challenge of learning something completely new, and I’ve been lucky to do this many times now. Even better, there is no opportunity like the one in front of us right now: AI will transform our industry, just as it is gearing up to transform so many others as well. It’s going to be an amazing ride, and I look forward to doing it together.
