There is no standard way in C to parse config files. Several libraries have sprung up to solve the problem, but perhaps that is overkill for what should be a simple operation. Presenting: cfg_parse – a compile-in solution for reading key-value pairs from file(s), looking up settings, and writing a config file back to disk. I could write more about it, but the included main.c shows all the functionality.

EBF, which stands for Efficient Binary Format, is a binary file format for reading and writing binary data easily. Reading writing routines are currently available in C,C++,Fortran,Java, Python, IDL, MATLAB. A program called ebftkpy which has a set of utility functions to work with the .ebf files , e.g., viewing the contents and getting a summary, is also provided. The EBF specification is designed to be concise and easy to understand to make it easier for others to write their own code if needed. It is also designed to simplify the programming of input output routines in different programming languages. In a nutshell an EBF file is a collection of data objects. Each data object is specified by a unique name and a single file can have multiple data objects. Each data object is preceded by a meta-data or header which describes the binary data associated with it. Among other things, this header allows the files to be portable across systems with different endianess.

This project is a tool to detect file types by signatures and mime types. It uses hash tables to make the detection of a file type as fast as possible. The signature and mime types lists are stored at simple user-friendly files. This file type detector supports a lot of formats (image, archive, text, documents, audio, video, fonts and others). It also includes Microsoft OLE compound file types. The detector's algorythm has special features to detect text file types like (HTML, XML, JSON, etc.) and text file UNICODE charsets by using their BOMs (Byte order marks). Its small simple interface can be used at the most popular platforms.

It aims to make the networking layer fast, scalable, and easy to use. Implemented in C, it works on a wide range of operating systems with no further dependencies. The communication patterns, also called "scalability protocols", are basic blocks for building distributed systems.

ncclamp is a command-line tool for NetCDF files that allows you to replace values in-place for a variable given the old value to be replaced, the new value, and a comparison operator. The change is applied across all of the variable's dimensions.
