The purpose of the project is to develop a portable programming framework that facilitates distributed and multi-threaded programming for C++, Java, and Python. MADARA was originally developed as an agent-based middleware specifically for real-time, distributed artificial intelligence, but is now more general purpose for distributed timing, control, knowledge and reasoning, and quality-of-service. MADARA is composed of several tools and middleware, and the main entry point into the system is the Knowledge and Reasoning Language (KaRL) Engine, which provides a real-time scripting language for nanosecond execution times hooked into a flexible transport layer for distributed reasoning. The KaRL engine also supports object-oriented C++, Java, and Python programming through Containers, classes that provide abstractions and references for variable location within the KaRL Knowledge Base. The Plugin Framework for Java is a distributed Plugin framework. It will enable users to write distributed application by just writing simple Plugins. It will come with Plugin clustering, central plugin registry and load balancing.

Pop Framework (or Pop), http://www.popframework.net, is a bean-based MVC framework for Java/J2EE web applications. Pop implements IoC, Dependency Injection, and AOP. Pop provides annotations for users to define and reference a bean. Pop can help users to customize a bean, a scope, a factory and a reference in object-oriented way. Pop treats a bean as the model of a web page (JSP or servlet), the webpage itself is a view of the bean. The model provides the data for the view, the view is responsible for rendering the data. The Pop itself acts as the general-purposed controller for all views and models. The beans defined in server-side can be referenced by hyperlinks in client-side directly. Views and Models are therefore loosely coupled in Pop. A model can have multiple views for different devices and different locales. Each view and each model can be maintained and optimized independently and in parallel.
