Open Source Java Simulation Software for Windows

Kalypso is an open source application for geospatial modelling and simulation. It is primarily developed to be a user friendly tool for GIS-based modelling and simulation of hydrological and hydraulic numerical models.

Siafu simulates individual agents and their context, from home to city-wide scenarios. As a developer, you use the API to write your simulation for the purposes of data-set generation, test or visualization, optionally hooking it to your own application.

The BioEnergy Allocation and Simulation Tool (BEAST) is a tool dedicated to assess political goals of woody bioenergy production in the context of available biomass potentials and corresponding economic and ecological criteria on a regional level. It is a useful tool in participative decision making processes by iterative simulation and visualization of complex issues. BEAST is a data- and model-driven Decision Support System (DSS) evaluating woody biomass potentials from forests, hedges and trees outside forests as well as short rotation coppice (SRC). The latter one is modelled spatially explicit. This opens the possibility to identify prefered areas for SRC production under different restrictions and goals. Forest wood and wood from outside forests are treated only aggregated.

Viperfish is intended for the sailor looking to improve his weather forecasting. Viperfish provides the ability to visualise and modify GRIB (weather prediction) files, it can plot routes and provides routing based on coming weather and boat performance.

GISpatialNet is a Java-based tool for mapping network data (nodes and edges between them) to spatial coordinates; reformatting network and spatial data together; and calculating spatial network measures. The nofdp IDSS is an open source application for modeling flood control measures and 1D hydrodynamic flood simulation. Additional modules for ecological and spatial analysis, multicriteria evaluation and communication are included.
