Thanks. I am trying to see if I can do it with another machine, but not sure... FYI, Flowroute (one carrier) stopped sending CDN data to regular customers. CDN is required for un blocking CallerID blocks. -S On Mon, Oct 31, 2011 at 11:59 AM, Darrick Hartman <dha...@dj... > wrote: > Scott,**** > > ** ** > > I just kicked off the build process with the latest svn. Help! Any way I can get that as a downloadable IMG file? Since I do not have have a loadable driver for the network card on the Ubuntu 10.04, I cannot load packages (gcc, apt-get update etc) to fix it. -Scott On Sat, Oct 29, 2011 at 9:24 AM, Lonnie Abelbeck <li...@lo...>wrote: > I made the addition in r5235 that should support your hardware. > > Either wait for a newer beta version or build it yourself, follow the > instructions I gave David Kerr below. > > Lonnie > > > On Oct 29, 2011, at 9:08 AM, junk junk wrote: > > > I tried 6 of the last builds ( > http://mirror.astlinux.org/downloads/img/geni586/), none of them work on > the new hardware. > > > > -S > > > > On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 3:42 PM, Lonnie Abelbeck < > li...@lo...> wrote: > > David, > > > > Yeah, the kernel.org issues has been a real pain. I made the addition in r5235 that should support your hardware. Either wait for a newer beta version or build it yourself, follow the instructions I gave David Kerr below. My build boots on my Alix card. I didn't create my own image, I took the beta .img file and copied that onto a CF card and verified that it worked. Then I replaced the .run files with ones I built myself and updated the ver file to point to them (were a slightly newer SVN level). I've only verified that it boots by watching the serial console. Have not connected it to my LAN yet, that is next step (and then following the new installation instructions to create the unionfs, etc etc.). But there is no reason to suspect that it would not be working fine. David On Sun, Oct 23, 2011 at 9:58 PM, David Kerr <da...@ke...> wrote: > Well, double Duh. The AstLinux Team would like to announce the first beta release from the new build environment. This is a significant change from the current stable series of releases. Major changes include: Moving to eGlibc instead of uClibc. This provides binary compatibility with Glibc (meaning the g729_codec, fax for Asterisk and any other binary blobs from Digium should work--g729_codec has been tested to work). New kernel (2.6.35.x which is a long-term stable release). This should help us support newer hardware that was not supported in the older version). Unfortunately, the move to the newer kernel means MISDNv1 no longer is supported. Those who are using MISDNv1 should join the -devel mailing list and discuss options with the developers. A full changelog and a list of new install images are available here: http://www.astlinux.org/release/10-svn-5224-asterisk-1871 http://www.astlinux.org/release/10-svn-5224-asterisk-1442 Since this is a beta release, we strongly suggest NOT installing this on a production system. The runnix bootloader also MUST be updated. The new 'runnix-4' is included in the above install images. We strongly recommend using those rather than attempting to upgrade. After more testing has been completed, an upgrade procedure will be documented and published. A majority of the coding was done by Lonnie Abelbeck. Michael Keuter was highly involved with testing and researching. Please help us through the testing process by installing these images on test systems and reporting back to the mailing list. Very good... Yes the new build system takes longer for a clean build, about 50% longer for me than 0.7. The new kernel is part of it. Some of the packages are regenerating the ./configure which yields a better build, but takes longer. The good news, after a clean build, a build for a different board takes less than a minute since we are now using a common kernel and toolchain. Also the initrd.img is now created only once via it's own separate build, so that is not recreated from build to build (unless you remove initrd.img) > Also, why is it that some of the packages unpacked into output/build have their directories (and some contents) marked as read-only. For example arno firewall, asterisk, bfdetect, perl, newt, and others. Small snip below. Not sure, but we are setting in the ./scripts/build script "umask 002" as we did before. Well, duh. For some reason my Ubuntu 11.10 system is trying to build tools for the wrong target architecture. I need to figure out why it is not building for i586. Okay, the whole thing built (on Ubuntu 11.04). I have not tried creating an image, could be a while before I find the time to do that and test it. Thanks Lonnie, past that hurdle, perl built. Still building rest of the packages as I type this. Seems that 1.0 takes a lot longer to build than 0.7 ? Hi David, I can give you the short version for building with 1.0... CentOS6 and Debian 6 are known to work as hosts. "svn co" the 1.0 branch to your $HOME/astlinux/1.0/ directory. Then "cp astlinux18.config .config" if you want Asterisk 1.8 Build with "./scripts/build alix" where alix is your board type. (after set once, you can drop the board type) This will fail the first time since your don't have a toolchain built, follow the instructions displayed in the error. After you have built the external toolchain again type "./scripts/build" . When finished, if successful... create a flash img.gz with "./scripts/astlinux-makeimage -z 192 192 0" . Write the flash image to a CF Card or Flash drive and you are on your way.
