Hi, I don't quite understand what you did, and the error message does not give sufficient information on what exactly goes wrong.

Anyway, the error happens while OpenSong checks locations where Bibles might be stored, and tries to gather a list of their names.
OpenSong checks a folder named Scripture placed within OpenSong's document folder, then a folder named "OpenSong Scripture" in the same place, and finally a folder named "OpenSong Scripture" in the same folder as OpenSong.exe.
Please make sure at least one of these folders does exist, none of these names is used by a file, and all of the folder that do exist are readable. Make also sure all of the files within these folders are valid scripture files, either in OpenSong's own format, or in the Zefania XML format. Any other files in these folders may cause the error you are experiencing.

Please report back, if this information helped you resolve the issue, and if it did, what changes to your system resolved the issue. This might help others with a similar failure, and might help us to improve the program to avoid the situation in the first place.
Also, if anything is unclear, please ask.

As you were (or the program was) "unable to find files" and "Tried to redirect", your setup might be inconsistent now. You may want to re-install OpenSong to make sure, all necessary files are there. This will not overwrite your configuration, and not remove any of your own songs, sets or backgrounds.

I get the same message just after being asked to 'Select Language' during first installation. The little blue circle also keeps going round, but I can press OK after selecting English - then I get the error message as above.

    Hi

    Thank you for your report.

    • Did you get that message the first time you tried to run OpenSong after installing it on a Windows machine?
    • Has OpenSong been running on that machine before?
    • Did you uninstall or update a previous version?
    • Did you transfer data from another system?
    • Did you update Windows from an older version?

The data in the cryptic text after Stacktrace is important to us, as it tells us more where the error occured. NilObjectException is a generic error, which, unfortunately may be caused by many conditions in many areas of the program.

If you can reproduce the error, please confirm, that is is indeed the same text for the stacktrace, or post your stacktrace here. Use the Copy to Clipboard "link" to copy the error text and paste it into a reply in this thread, or create a screenshot of the message box, as the thread started did.

    Thank you.
