  • Derrick Yohn Derrick Yohn posted a comment on discussion Get Help

Yes, I have the Terabox app, but I do not use it for mission-critical appliances or any VM's as it is a cloud-based storage. I am still using ASSP - and it has been running well for me in the past 10+ years. The flexibility in options is outstanding, but at times can also be a bit overwhelming - even for a seasoned SMTP operator like myself its easy to get lost in the myriad of options and it is not easy for the beginner to install and set up. Thus a prepackaged VM would be nice to have for everyone....

I understand your frustration. It sounds like you've tried all the recommended steps without success. Has anyone managed to get a working, vanilla OVA or VMDK of this software for VirtualBox or ProxMox? I'm looking for a straightforward import solution to bypass these install issues. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to contact me directly at 'indridcold65' AT 'gmail.com'. Thanks in advance! You also can download Terabox APP for your data storage.

Thanks for that bit of information ironjohn. I didn't know it was spamassassin in a wrapper. I use spamassassin now (and have for many years when I used to be a sysadmin for a Dial-Up service provider ... yes that long ago). I tried every which way to Tuesday to install SoF1, but it always hung at the same spot. No matter the kernel version, distro, bare metal or VM. At least now I realize I didn't even need to waste all that time. Had I known it was a wrapper for common packages I wouldn't have...

The author noped out several years ago. Everyone who wants to use SoF1 is on their own. SoF1 is just an admin panel with adjustable presets for amavis/spamassasin/clam/etc. All standard Linux mail daemon stuff. You would have an easier time using his scripts and config files as a base for your own from scratch spam filter server, minus the nifty web interface. I'd recommend starting with Ubuntu minimal server for slightly more up to date install packages. Nothing wrong with sticking to Debian though....

FWIW, SoF1 is just an admin panel with adjustable presets for amavis/spamassasin/clam/etc. All standard Linux mail daemon stuff. What marius did by making SoF1 was to ELEMINATE 95% of the learning curve by stuffing his own best practices in one package and writing an easy to use website to interface with it. What probably drove him to walk away was the entitlement of people who are not willing to learn beyone...

While I don't have specific insights into Scrollout's inner workings, issues with logs and stats not updating after the New Year might be due to a few reasons: 1- Date Configuration: Some systems might have date-related issues when transitioning to a new year. It could be worth checking the date and time settings on your Debian system to ensure they're correctly configured. 2- Log Rotation: Log rotation processes might impact data visibility. Check if log rotation configurations are set up to archive...

As of friday 8th Sep 2023 my instance of Scrollout F1 no longer functions due to incompatibility with hosting server - I was forced to update due to recent security patches, and Scrollout is simply no longer compatible. The file is typically located at /etc/mail/spamassassin/local.cf or /etc/spamassassin/local.cf. Use your preferred text editor to make changes to this file.
