This should still be the same behaviour as of 20140420. Fixing this should be possible within the code in backends/platform/dc/vmsave.cpp using the libronin API, but how this is selected by button or GUI is the main issue.

Any patches or Pull Requests to implement this would be gratefully received... If I get some time, I will look at prototyping a solution.
