I think, the Amiga versions of MI2 and FOA uses Midi
similar to the mt32 version from the PC version but
with fewer instruments. The actual midi instruments are
stored as a multisample wavetable in amiga1.ims etc. If
midi output is selected, e.g. "-ewindows", you could
experimentaly treat the "AMI " tag like the "ROL "
equivalent in the PC versions. It's probably better
than no sound at all. Not that simple is probably the
use of the amiga1.ims etc. files in order to produce
the original sounds, which also includes some sfx in MI2.

As I know MI1 does a different way. All music are MODs
in the Rainbow Arts format.

To be exact, the music for the Amiga version of MI1 is in
TFMX format. There is a GPL'ed player for this format
    available at http://darkstar.tabu.uni-bonn.de/~neo/tfmx.html.

OK ScummVM now treats AMI music resources in MI2 as
ROL and the music sounds fairly good.

Any ideas on what music/sound formats were used by Amiga
versions of INDY3, LOOM, MM or ZAK ?

According the recent forum posts the sound effects in the
*.ims files are just uncompressed signed 8 bit sample data.
And I expect their same rate would be 11000Hz

A few more titles that will require MOD format support of
    some type:
The music in indy3 and loom is in MOD style format, more
    information can be found at
    http://qmt.ath.cx/~quietust/scumm/v3sound/
The music in simon1 used Protracker mod format.

We still know nothing about music/sfx format of maniac and
    zak.

Kirben, it sounds like you've been the liason for quietust's
Amiga patches, so I'm going to turn this over to you for now.

Perhaps I come too late, but you'll find a collection of useful
EaglePlayer / DeliTracker / DeliPlayer resources at Exotica:

    http://exotica.fix.no/source/

The tracking format used in MM1 and ZMK was Scumm Player:

UADE has multiplatform support for just about any music
format, and should be a lot easier to integrate than the
    original Deliplayer sources:

I don't agree about UADE, because what it does is basically
a 6502 emulator. That wuld definitely be an overkill. It
would be very nice if somebody will rewrite TFMX player and
proabably Scumm Plyaer according ScummVM standards, but that
person should be realy devoted :).
