A good code. A bunch of very good source code. That's what I want to say about GEDKeeper. I ain't an expert in genealogy. But I'm a professional coder with more than fifteen years programming experience. Therefore, I can't expose everyone how beautifully GEDKeeper processes genealogical data and how it's easy to be used. But. I saw the source code of the project. I even tried to implement some stuff (fix some bugs), but I failed due to blindness. The project's code has a complicated enough structure, has many software abstractions, that sometimes beat me. For me this is a grown-up multiplatform pure C# solution. I know how much the author loves this project. Once he was ready to kill me for a way I had implemented some features. A man who loves his project so much, will always try to give you the best result, believe me. The author always claims that GEDKeeper has “dry and laconic design”. I don't think so. Moreover, I should say that there are no professional tools (tools that target specific usage and users) with “heavy-reach and beautiful” GUI. Such tools do not require such think like reach fluid animation, garish bitmaps, and so on. Applying all of that stuff in tools like GEDKeeper distracts users from the work and wastes hardware resources of the host. GEDKeeper may have bugs. So, there is no perfect thing, notably software products. But one can easily report a bug on this site or on GitHub. The author reacts very quickly! All you need to do is to start using GEDKeeper right now!
