Jasmine uses the ASM byte code manipulation library (http://asm.ow2.org/) to create Java byte code to evaluate numerical expressions and algorithms.
Evaluation of compiled expressions is very fast, in most cases it is faster than the equivalent byte code produced by the Java compiler (javac).
