Stock NSIS just sets the request in the manifest, it does not pop up a dialog. This is probably the 3rd-party UAC plug-in and that has been deprecated. Error 5 is probably "access denied". Process Monitor might tell you which file/directory or registry key the problem is with. I'm not sure if how Administrator Protection actually works is documented.
