IAP 2026

MIT's Independent Activities Period (IAP) began on Monday, January 5 and continues through Friday, January 30. Visit our IAP registration page to learn about taking classes or doing research during the month of January.

Spring registration

Spring registration week runs from Monday, January 26 through Friday, January 30. The deadline for continuing students to register without a late fee is Friday, February 6. 

Cross-registration for the spring term

MIT students may cross-register for classes at Harvard, Wellesley, or MassArt, and we encourage you to familiarize yourself with guidelines, procedures, and deadlines for each institution.

Curriculum Development Funds RFP

The d’Arbeloff Fund and the Education Innovation Funds are soliciting preliminary proposals for projects intended to make a substantial impact on undergraduate education and learning at MIT. Learn more and apply by January 30.
