After lots of trials and tribulations, and the fact that it's become impossible to earn a living in the united states unless you make 80+k a year (middle class is 125k); i enlisted on the navy and got the job as SeaBee Construction Mechanic. I really need to learn how to drive before i leave for basic though, because nobody told me the license is required for heavy commercial equipment, lol.

I am Bradley, 28M, and I got a job at nike in Orlando florida, but quickly learned i can't afford anything or go anywhere. I live with my mom and For months, I've been just camp living, going from site to site together, and commuting with a 2014 subaru outback at 160k miles.

Mom was working home inspection and we were saving up. The sourness turned when she was laid off due to a client drought in the season, and we lost like 2/3 of the household income. Over time, I've been making less and less myself because my own season is ending, and I'm doing only 2 shifts a week.

On August 8th of this year, my 28th birthday, as i was planning to see bad guys 2, the outback loses oil from a leak and robs begin knocking. The engine is toast. We walked to the theater, which was just 2 mimutes away, to enjoy the movie. It was good. We got AAA to tow the outback to a local church, only to be told it needs to be sold for scrap.

Now I have no way to commute to work, no way to save up for a week extra of camping, and I can't even afford to uber, which is $120 a week. I'll try to call as many assistance programs as i can on monday, but they won't solve getting me to work. In fact, their approved areas are even further than my campsites.

I want a month at an extended stay that's near work, but i can't even do that because all of orlando hotels and suites are $1500/2000 a month, with extra resort fees and ALL UP FRONT. Just 1 week of a campsite close enough to walk to work costs $500. I can't apply to an apartment, because i don't make rent requirements, and my credit score is 490. I'm extremely scared, and want to throw up.

This fundraiser will either help me buy a used car so i can commute again to work, and help mom find her work.

On aug 8, my birthday, i decide to celebrate after work, to go see Bad Guys 2, and eat cheap cake. Simple, right? Welp, the car we drove began rod knocking and then broke down in the parking lot right outside the theater.

Mom was panicking, pissed, and scared. I try my best to stay calm, but a car broken down, broke, in the middle of a rainy night, was not a good morale booster. I didn't let that ruin my night, and went to see the movie anyways. I helped mom get the courage to follow me as well.

We watch the movie and enjoyed it, bur returned to the dead car. We waited until 1am the next day for AAA to pick it up, and we went back to my florida family's rv, 1.5 hours from our campsite home.

I can't afford any used cars in this society, and the closest affordable option is still $1900. (I have my PayPal if anyone wants to help).

I now work with Nike at vineland orlando Florida, the busiest nike store on the planet. They make $100,000 a day and have over 10 registers, and faces from all over the world come visit. I'm so happy i finally got a job after 6 months, and i can now work my way out of homelessness

Moving company named 2Movers scammed us of $1400. They brokered our contract to a different company entirely that used a different system, like measuring by cubic inches, instead of by pieces (which we were promised), and adding charges for the steps taken, instead of the flights of stairs (which we were promised). The moving company with us weren't aware of the scam, believing what they got was correct information. So our promised $450 move became $950; and our promised $450 delivery ALSO became $950. We declined the service and they threatened to not refund the deposit.

With the tesla layoff of april, I've finally come to a struggle with rent, because the promised severence had a nearly 30% tax on it, and so it was a full month shorter than expected... i am screwed $1600 for August. I just need to squeak by, but my new job can't pay for it, even at $20/hr. Please, anyone help me! I am so terrified, especially with texas' THREE DAY EVICTION notice. I worked for tesla since September 2022. I have learned many things about them and how they work. Recently, they were planning to move employees from model Y to Cybertruck; and the empty voids they left behind were to be filled with new blood. During this transition, some may lose their jobs. I was, unfortunately, one of them. I have been given a condolence email saying i will be able to receive support for until june, which includes keeping my benefits for a while, and maybe even severence pay.

I have plans that both me and my mother have to agree to and work on, to get me out of this rut; but there are many dues that are to happen in may, all of them large. $300 phone bill from my former carrier, and $4000 due from my 401k loans.

I'm terrified.

Having been working with the company since September 2022; i can easily say Tesla has an extremely greedy work ethic that has almost made me homeless numerous times. They only give us 2 15-minute breaks and a 30 minute unpaid lunch, too.

They started out with a juicy 60 hours a week (5 12-hour shifts), which I thought would save us from poverty, UNTIL, those 60 became 72 for December. It was too much. Tesla then switched to a 4-day, 12 hour shift in 2023, which was perfect, until they switched to 10 hour shifts, which i got barely $1300 paychecks.

They keep swapping shifts around, but never returned to 12-hours 4 days... over the year in 2023, they took away unpaid time off; they pushed back equity; they never gave employees proper raises, instead locking it behind a "take charge" initiative program; nobody can have any time off unless they have PTO to cover it; they TRIED to take away our week off for Christmas, but backlash made that not happen.

In 2024, they soft-changed the PTO policy to now have only 3 people per day able to use it IN THE WHOLE DEPARTMENT, so if you want a vacation at any time for any duration, you have to compete for each day against 500+ people. They gave us a "Market Adjustment Pay increase," which did well with our current 5 day 10-hour shift schedules.... until today-

On February 26, they will be taking away 10 hours every week, only earning a flat $24/hr; but with 26% of our paycheck cut out for taxes and insurances; i expect i will be losing almost $400 every 2 weeks.

Can you believe working at the most prestigious EV company on the planet and you still have to apply for food stamps?

TL:DR; they keep finding ways to pay employees less money, make them work more hours, and prevent them from getting any rest due to stress and depression.

I have Autism, High Functioning, but lots of symptoms are still present. I grew up in a society that tried to put me in the bin, like doctors who gave me drugs twice the dosage for *adults* daily. All to make me "normal." Teachers forced me into learning the same way all other students did, and kicked me out of special Education when i gave up on the meds. I ended up dropping out of high school. I was told by the media i wouldn't be successful anyways....

I struggle a lot, emotionally and socially. Can't be professional in a professional setting, nor emotional in an emotional setting. I try to make friends out of everyone i talk to, even ones who just want to do business...

i can't really think "business" when i think "friend," and i become way too trusting way too fast, still, after trying my hardest to fix that for 12 fucking years. I am way too open with my emotions online and i scare away anyone normal. So all the friend i currently have, are only ones who give me endless chances to calm down.

I have never had a relationship, and I'm 26... and i don't think i ever will. I can't go beyond friendships, but even then, those are hard to keep. I feel so alone..

I can't even do tasks required as an adult, like driving, riding a bike, or swimming, or taxes. i just can't be bothered. I'm unable to do things others want me to do, unless they're simple commands, with guidance. I have my mom who's staying to help, and I'm grateful; but i don't want to be on my own when we plan to finally part ways. I'm afraid of being alone.

I literally just play warframe, but i like to pretend I'm more avid a gamer than i am. Any excuse to make something pretty epic is what I'm lookin for. And what i want to change in my Setup is my Desk (looking for an L shaped one with storage) and my monitor (preferably an ultrawide).

Rn i have the HP Pavilion 32 QHD 32" monitor, but i ran into a lot of QOL problems; one such is this 15lb monitor VESA mounts with an adapter that is held in place by 1 spring tensioned screw, at the very bottom. This means vesa mounting both requires the monitor be upside down, and the screw retightened every month. It's qlso a VA panel with 20ms response time and 60hz; which i paid $360 for in 2020.

And rn i have a decent desk as it is, but it's some random amazon brand, and the monitor riser takes up a whole third of the real estate. I want something with more recreational room, for food and headphones.

For over 900 miles, 3 crashes, and 2 car accidents, i have owned a Segway Ninebot Max electric scooter. I used it to get to and from work, but recently i have been using it to get to and from interviews; as i lost my job due to them shutting their doors permanently....

midway on my trip to one such interview, the scooter abruptly shut down on me and the wheels locked up, completely killing it. so now i have no job and no transportation to get to a new job. I opened it up to find that the connectors are all fried and melted, and the battery is damaged from said melting. It's unfixable, bricked.
