⚠️⚠️⚠️I HAVE FUNDING FOR MY INSANE CAT GAME OMFG (G)
This is real.
Welcome to 2026, and I have been certainly cooking on a project. You may have noticed some of the Southpaw Outlaw content I've posted. Yeah, it's an indie-game and it's neat, but more on that later. Well, there is a LOT more on the discord about all of this.
I'm going to give it straight, I won't make you read too much for the good news. It's been a crap year. I've almost died like twice and health has been bad, but I have been moved to safer and more stable location in Michigan. I have nested well and doing better. I have had less than $10 in my bank account for 90% of the year.
However, a friend saw how hard I work. How much I studied and know, and the cool stuff I can do. They seen and know how debilitating my autism can be, on top of physical and terminal illness threats and ailment. Don't be alarmed with this, and it is handled, but also, cancer, but don't worry about that. That's not a card in this game at this point.
So this friend gave me an incredibly risky $10k to buy a year for Southpaw Outlaw to develop. They believe in it. BUT all I have is 1 year. It's on a business loan and I have to have a revenue of $850 between twitch and patreon, and whatever else, to consider this project perpetual. So it's not like it's paid for, it's on loan. So... uhh.... holy crap. This isn't fucking free.
But, I am legally and professionally a game developer at my own game company: Windlion Games. There is no going back. Money is in my pocket, and the pressure is immediately on.
I have 1 year to get a solid first part of the game and a sustaining income. But also, I have 1 month to make my demo. End of January is a demo on the schedule, so wow.
What does this mean for commissions? Well I may not take any, or many more. I think I want to boost my furry patreon and still take time to draw stuff for the community, but I do want things to shift to the Southpaw Outlaw avenues. I originally set out to be a game developer, and after 20 years I made it. The furry thing was a hell of a ride but it's time to relax on it. Southpaw is priority and everything else is distraction or noise. 1 year is no time at all for this, this is insanely high risk but it will benefit a lot of people.
Why does it benefit? The long term goals for Southpaw Outlaw is open source and maybe even creative commons. The game is modifiable down to the kit which I don't even own, it's Justin's, but even he says you can screw with it if you ask. I even have the source documents and tools to compile a steam exe in one click. You could use my tools and game to make your own tools and game and make money. There will be an open market on related merch for seller profit only, meaning you make it and do everything and just toss some dollars at the Patreon.
Also, this game is deeply community coded and artist engaging. The game actually functions more an art app now than ever. Like you can File > Save Image and crap. Because you can draw all over everything, and there's mechanics involved with the gameplay. It's an insane cat art game. It's too fun.
So click the links I put literally everywhere because idgaf, please ask questions, and I'll communicate with everyone who wants to talk. There are so many moving parts and the business is real, but I'm moving on this like mf Doomguy, because I'm already a year ahead. You want in on this now, it's exclusive, so join and catch up.
Before I turn on Twitch Streamer public figure person and develop an obnoxious smile like Mr. Beast, I just want to say honestly, this is a literal ride or die. Failure would bankrupt multiple people, and one has a young kid. It's scary, ngl, but it's my job to provide you with confidence and my skills. I kinda want to say I have been commissioned for 10k to do this project. I certainly have a boss, but like, also creative freedom and carte blanche on dev style. Because at the end of the day, I'm the only dev. Everyone else in the Discord are just regular people like you making suggestions and participating in how things go. Everyone has a say as long as we can not get stuck on anything. I know how to lead teams, and delegate people, that's no issue.
As far as my investor is concerned, profits are mutual, it's a like a Disney/Iwerks situation. Iwerks was a master doing commercials and little stuff before he met Disney at a studio. They did some stuff but Disney invested in Iwerks and they crushed it because Iwerks was a smart guy that liked to make stuff too, but was just a humble artist. Disney was an artist too, but was savvy, had money, and new business. Unlike Disney, we can't first fail with Laugh-O-Gram first before appealing to Hollywood. No, we can't afford any loss. Frankly, we didn't have the money to begin with, nobody is paying attention to this project at the moment, and it needs to go nuclear.
Halp, I'm a little nervous. :( If anything just share idk.
