this actually was the result of many many hours of trial and error... especially error. a lot of it was just googling how to do things, but i also used these to familiarize myself with the tools:

just a note, i didn't follow these tutorials at all, i just used parts of them for quick reference. like the setup stuff for the ninja was very useful starting out, and then the stuff in part 2 of the condo video was good for like setting up the background and figuring out where UV map options were and stuff.
