This is a relatively new character of mine from a side RP I'm doing with someone. On a complete lark, I thought I'd have her drawn. She's from a fantasy setting with a blend of German and Arabic styling - I think Fringedog nailed it dead-on! Gotta loved that slashed shirt.

Zaina Jund is a master-at-arms of the Queen's Guard, a unit of bodyguards for the realm's highest noble families. Sworn to protection of the royal family, the role is open and destigmatized to women - being rooted in tradition behind the matriarchy. Much of the original role for the large number of female bodyguards was the logic that a queen's handmaidens could remain with her in private without fear of discomfort, even during vulnerable moments.

While a general knowledge of combat is needed to join, unarmored fighting skills and weaponry are preferred, as their role is primarily defense, during peacetime. Even so, when clad in armor, they are a fearsome force. Zaina's preferred weapon is the Grosse Messer, the Greatknife - a derivative of the falchion. She is also a formidable unarmed combatant.
