Im not really one to complain much in public, or at least I try not to. I usually try my best to hold my thoughts to myself but this time I really wanna speak my mind about a little something.
See about a couple of days ago i had a little falling out with a person Id considered a friend on these art sites, a skype buddy you could call it.
I was working on a new bug character, the one you see above since Vektra and Mitzy became so well recived and seriously you guys enjoying them whether thier for personality or sexiess is both flattering and encouraging, In fact so much I gave myself a little challenge this time around. I wanted to turn something, a species, that's not really popular for the more obvious reasons and try and make it a bit more approachable if not fully converting someone. Somehow I came to spiders, Yea people are afriad of those but the F$#kload so it would be a great place to start. After some sketching and such blah blah blah i was done and started showing some peeps on skype. Alls good till I showed one other person.
He was quite interested since the persons a fan of mitzy and all but as soon as I say the characters a spider the persons personality took a nose dive. I basically said hey its cool you don't like her but Im still planning to keep her and draw her more often, then he tells me "Oh well im going to have to Unwatch you then, but you can still do what you want".
I kid you not and I'm just in shock how someone can be like that. Of course Im not happy to hear that and i ask why hes being like this but basically he hates spiders and is saying im overracting to BEING TOLD IM BEING UNWATCHED for trying something new and i should pretty much get over it. Well i wasn't going to "just get over it". I hate when people give a person bad news and then expects the other person to suddenly be ok with it. "Who cares if i broke your TV, its no big deal get over it.". anyways i tell him straight up, yo man that really hurts me you're being like this over a character (BTW i didn't even get to show him the character) and he tells me, "oh im always like this". I just shake my head and I was just done, so Fing done and now we aren't friends anymore.

You'd think it would just stop there for me but.... it really got me thinking. It got me being all "soul searchy" as adventure time would put it. Can I REALLY draw whatever I want and still be successful here? I used to think trying new things was what people liked in artists but here I go making one minor change and suddenly i get treated like dirt. Im not drawing scat, or vore, or anything truly disgusting... i made one new character no more out there then the rest of my other OCs and again this happens. Never have i ever forced anyone to like anything i ever create. if someone doesn't like what i like thats totally fine, that is 100% A ok with me, everyone has thier opinions, but never when someone makes a change have i ever whent up to the artist and told them, Im unwatching you. Thats like a slap to the artists face whos worked for years to try and gain a following of like minded individuals. Its the same kind of petty crap that you see in youtube comments.
Now im over the drama from before but now... if something like that happened because of one characters species, who the hell knows what will happen should I have any new ideas or decide to take anymore risks... Im just not sure... sheesh is she really "that" scary?

Anyways I apologize for the rant if i annoyed anyone, and this definitely wasn't the way i wanted to introduce my new creation but i really wanted to put things in perspective for a bit. Not all news is bad, i got a new flatscreen (dual screens )for my PC so i should be churning out new content faster. thanks for your time.
