because my main ref for her is two years old

It's my second fursona, Jesiana! :D Or, Jes for short. She's been through a lot of design changes, but she's actually been stable for the past few years. While that's a good thing, it also means I never bothered to give her a new ref- so let's change that! ^^ She looks a bit prettier here, which I like, and it has a second view of her stripes (which I actually am picky about since they're not random).

The whole "fursona" thing has always worked a bit differently for me, I admit I'm pretty weird about it. Many furries have anthro fursonas and see themselves as that character- hence, fursona. Yet, my main fursona has always been Lerato- a male, feral lion. Mostly just because I like drawing him so much, I feel more connected to him, and have a longer history with him. He's a part of who I am. It wasn't until a year or so after Lerato was created that I was told (I don't even recall by whom or how) that, as a female, having a male fursona was odd.

Thus, Jes was born. A little bit of history about her, for anyone who's interested: When I first created her, she had about a gazillion markings and jewelry and tattoos, and she was more or less a 'joke' character. Over time, though, I grew to like her (and hated drawing her) more, so I simplified her design more and more over time until I'd realized that she was almost as much a fursona to me as was Lerato. This time, however, since she wasn't built around her own story like Lerato was, I could see more of "myself" in her, and thus the idea of Jes has more or less been more of a "personal fursona" to me than Lerato.

And even though if someone asks, I'll answer that Lerato is "my fursona", I still have a special place in my heart for Jes- more of a personal character than a fursona. I don't see myself as her- but I do see her as myself sometimes, if that makes any sense at all. Long story short, she's a special gal for me and even though she's still feral, she's simple and I don't draw her as often as I should, I love her all the same. <3
