Another photo from my internship. When I was working there, they were preparing one of the newborn Snow Owls for an avian flight show at another park. This meant, amongst other things, that he had to learn to trust humans. So basically, as much human contact as possible. He would be with us during every break, and usually he was in the room where food was prepared. Of course, certain precautions were taken to make sure this didn't have a negative affect on the hygiene. This did meant however that if you were on food-preparing duty you'd spend the whole day with him. Ugle (which is Danish for owl) was quite stubborn, and would make it very clear when he was not happy with a situation. At the end of my internship he was starting to learn how to use his wings a bit. This is one of my favourite photo's of him, where he is using the lid of one of the food containers as a little nest. While I did learn a lot from my internship and there were quite a few great moments, its Ugle I'll always remember best.
Not sure if the zoo I worked at would be happy with me uploading this, but the pic doesn't show much besides the owl.

Aye. In the exhibit you would often find the youngsters on the floor, wings spread out and lying flat-out on their belly's. Quite a few concerned visitors approached me, asking if the animal in question was dead :) They were always relieved when I told them the bird was just sleeping.
