This is probably the coolest as well as cutest picture of "Tails" that I've ever seen.
That soft, warm, childish expression on his face as he sits there tinkering with his toys. Those piercing eyes just radiating with the exuberance of a pup that just did something he's so proud of; even if it's just a little something, too.
It's funny because, when I see this, I immediately think back to that awesome cartoon of "Sonic the Hedgehog." The one with the darker tone where Robotnik's taken over and Sonic leads his group in a resistance. That show was fucking amazing and I see this Tails and think what that show could be today. Giving them more realistic appearances, like this, and carrying on that darker theme of a small group banding together to oppose a dictator looking to capture and control them.
I might need to go find that old show. Download it or something. It was so good and quite "ballsy" of the studio that produced it since it really didn't stick to the typical "Saturday morning cartoon" thing. It took a chance and...damn, it was solid.

Sega was really smart to have two cartoons based on the same game, and have one appeal to 7 and unders and the other appeal to older kids. I was growing up at the time those shows were both on, and I sort of remember that distinct moment in 1994 when I "graduated" from one show and became fascinated with the world of the other.
That version of Dr. Robotnik will always be one of my favorite villains. He posed enough of a threat that the hero's victories didn't feel like throwaways made against an incompetent buffoon, he was scary enough yet not unplesent to actually see on screen. They really nailed it with the balance of light and dark elements in the show in general, and I followed the Archiecomics interpretation of this universe up until about 2001.
As for the piece itself, Tails is freaking adorable here and I like how his weird pointy "Sonic shoes" were reinterpreted as being sort of paw-sized Converses.
Though I will also say, Tails being that "realistically proportioned" would probably make him look naked when he's standing upright, as opposed to the more cartoony traditional design that lets him get away with being unclothed more so.
No matter, I still thin its a fantastic piece, I'm just sort of commenting on how the reinterpretation sort of makes you think about how things like clothes work on characters like this.

I'll just mention about the clothing thing. An artist could easily put a pair of shorts on him. x3 Give him this look with those accessories just add a pair of shorts. Something "woodsy" like a dark-green or something. Or just a darker brown than what his belt is made of. Easy fix and doesn't lose the effect.
This is so awesome and well done I want to look at it for hours. Tails has always been my favorite and I don't feel like he gets the recognition he deserves but you blew that out of the water with this. If you ever get the time for it you should draw more Tails themed pictures like this one~<3
I've never seen a more beautiful rendering of Tails. Your art is sublime and I've run out of words to describe it. The things you draw reach me on an emotional level few things ever do and I'm infinitely grateful you choose to share it with us. I'm sorry if that sounds melodramatic or fanboy-like but honestly, my words fail me here.
