Randel Redpelt - Character Ref
Meet Randel, Elder of Rovarian Village. He was a warrior in his younger years, but still looks good for his age despite being 55. He isn't as muscular as he used to be but can still hold his own in a fight if it came to it. He's fought in numerous wars, and has a few scars to remember them by.
I thought it was time I got a ref sheet made for him since he has been mentioned numerous times in my story, and finally made his first appearance in the last couple of chapters. For those of you who follow my story you might remember that he is in fact Malakye's (My Fursona) grandfather.
Perhaps now is a good time to recap his participation in Malakye's upbringing. As those of you who follow the story know, wolves hate dragons. They have been fighting on and off for hundreds of years in countless wars. But when Randel's daughter, Gabriella Redpelt, met Malakye's father Kaldor Anaris the pair seemed to hit it off after a slightly rocky starts. They met up in secret, curious about one another since the two races never mixed due to the conflict between them. Eventually they fell in love and one thing led to another.
After being found out Kaldor was chased off, and Gabriella claimed that he had raped her after it turned out she was pregnant. However when she refused to get rid of the child she was disowned by her family and lived on the edge of the village as a social outcast. Randel had convinced the other Elders in the village to do this if she was disowned. Sounds cruel, but the other alternative was to have his daughter be banished from the village.
While he was able to ensure his daughters safety by allowing her to remain in the village she was now essentially a social pariah. No one in the village would talk to her, trade with her or help her in any way without suffering serious repercussions themselves. It pained Randel to know end seeing his own flesh and blood struggle like that, but he secretly helped her when he could. Leaving tools and supplies to help her. Despite being mother to a dragon/wolf half breed he still loved her.
After she passed away due to illness, leaving Malakye to struggle on by himself Randel continued to help his grandson by leaving supplies and tools in places he knew Malakye would scavenge from. He had never spoken to him. Never held the cub. So why help him? Because despite his heritage, Malakye was the only reminder of his precious daughter that he had left. He used his influence to ensure that no one tried to kill Malakye, but he could only do so much without drawing attention to himself.
After Malakye fled the village Randel never saw him again until several years later when he turned up at Rengilar Village with an army of dragons behind him. During the negotiations Randel found a chance to speak to Malakye alone, speaking to the dragolf for the first time in his life, and apologised to him that he couldn't do more for him when he was growing up. Malakye was skeptical, but accepted the fact that his Randel was telling the truth.
If you want to know more you're going to have to read the story. ^_^
