My first new furry OC in AGES. Some of you may have already met Audya since I had this reference done in time for MFF 2017 to get art of her though I had her concept in mind for about a year. Essentially, I wanted a character who encapsulates my recent obsession with new music, so here she is.

Audya - Audiophile Hip Cat ❤♫

Species: Abyssinian Cat
Height: 5'5”
Gender: Female
Occupation: Record Store Employee

Audya loves coffee, headphones, dancing/grooving, and the little posters and booklets that are included with physical media. She has a few vinyl albums and CD's but most of her vast collection consists of lossless digital downloads. Her prized possessions include her coffee mug, beanie, headphones, amplifier, and her extensive music collection.

Her eyes regularly have a sleepy look to them since she stays up all night jamming to tunes and reading novels. Often she appears to be a bit absent-minded and torpid but in reality is very friendly and open-minded towards others. She loves to ramble on about her current favorite bands and books and will never object to getting a cup of coffee together.
Audya lives in an attic apartment above the record store. Most of her time is spent working, buying and listening to music, browsing the nearby used bookstore, and sipping a cup of joe at the coffee shop down the street.

Her most interesting quality however, is the strange curse she inherited from her family lineage which causes her physical form to change depending on what musical album she is listening to. The effect occurs while she is listening to the album in its entirety due to the supposed “experience” certain full albums are said to have. By her observations, only about 1 in 50 albums seems to have an effect. She monitors her changes and reactions in a small sketchbook she has kept since the beginning when her changes first started occurring.

Once Audya reached the age of puberty, it became apparent that the curse had been passed-down to her therefore her parents limited the amount of music allowed in the house. However, once she became old enough to live on her own, she moved downtown and got a job at a record store where she became fascinated with her changes and came to fall deeply in love with all music.
Because of the possible (embarrassing) problems she encounters through her curse, she has to post a constantly updated list of “do not play” albums for her coworkers due to the changes that will undoubtedly occur to her while she is working. Despite her efforts, accidents can still happen.
The form-altering effects on her body and mind only last until she gets anywhere from 3 to 24 hours of sleep. Another method of reverting to her normal self involves her listening to certain lullabies her mother often sang to her when she was a young kitten.

Favorite music genres: electronic, indie rock, indie folk, vaporwave/chillwave, synthwave, alternative, ambient, future funk, hip-hop, neo-psychedelic rock, experimental, synth-pop, and disco.
