only two references I seen that's aginst homosexual and most of it was man traditions of that time. Leviticus is laws of the levites . and other reference is paul and think it was more don't be like the gentiles type thing. but no where did Jesus say it nor don't think he would care or least not like what most seem to want to do with the concept of homosexual is bad. I mean he healed the guards male lover for goodness ssakes. if I remember right
Even if the story of Leviticus was of the story of the levites, it states quite clearly that god said that homosexual interractions are “an abomination” deserving of “blood being upon themselves.” This whole scriptural doctrine is why I gave up my faith. To think that god may demonize a geneological trait HE CREATED, that one may possess that improves societal structure and stablity, and produces some of the greatest artistic/scientific minds to ever walk the face of the earth, is absurd. Almost as absurd as one being tossed to hell for believing the wrong sect of fictional beliefs, or someone being able to be saved and brought to heaven dispite their sin, NO MATTER HOW GREAT. If someone rapes or kills for any selfish reason, they should in my eyes have the true wrath of punishment, not those who are improving society, and simply loving others that they are biologically attracted to rather than going against their own attractions to appease some fictional omnipotent being. I’d rather yiff in hell, hail Seitan.
Not to be pedantic lol, but linguistically and contextually every part of the bible that talks about homosexuality either isnt actually talking about homosexuality (new testament) or is talking about something totally different (old testament). Catholicism imposed control and oppression against anyone it could "other" (see: gays) during the dark ages, and protestant Christianity never grew out of it. "Hell" is also a greek concept found nowhere in ancient Christianity/Judaism that was again, appropriated and the corrupted into modern Christianity. The word translated to "hell" is "Sheol" which actually means "nothing/abyss" i.e to cease to exist; not burn forever. Mistranslation and cultural difference changing context upwards of 2500 years is responsible for the "God hates gay people" absurdity that would have been totally foreign/unacceptable to ancient Christians.
What Im saying is that "quotes" in English are often wrong lol or miss context, and are again still wrong. I grew up in one of the most conservative denominations of Protestantism lol. I can spout entire chapters of scripture. The point is that with certain sections of the bible and subjects, translation error and cultural context error has corrupted what its actually saying.
This is kind of correct. Israel was pretty progressive in comparison to other nations at the time and had swathes of law dedicated to limiting abuse of slaves, (for example slaves were freed after 7 years) and protecting women (NOW they seem barbaric, but then it was very different). The context is "two men need to not sleep in a womans bed, because its hers" not "men shouldnt sleep with each other." Its basically "dont fuck around in a homegirls bed boys, and do that shenanigans somewhere else" Thanks for coming to my TED talk xD
There's an inherent assumption that all religious figures are against homosexuality. That's really not the case. It does, however, appear to be the narrative driving Gavin. Maybe we'll learn that Monsieur Goat isn't one of the self-hating variety. I'd give even odds that, even if that is the case, Gavin can't deal with it and considers it the goat's kink.
A frustrating problem fro both parties
We've yet to hear preachy side of the story, And I will wait for it before giving judgement.
How exactly DOES one get into the conversation of "Oh by the way i'm a Priest". There's no possible why i can imagine how awkward that conversation must be to start. We don't know how many layers his friend has gotten under. We don't know any backstory. All we know is what dear foxy friend knows.
True, he's promoting a mindset that directly opposes the assumed lifestyle he wants to live. he can be faulted for this. it would be a rather strong discredit to simply say"Well he's a lying bastard"

Fair point, really. It's not right for someone to preach something they don't practice. After all, behavior is a better indication of belief. Though in some cases, it may be that the person does believe it's wrong... but doesn't really believe they're a good person. So, they do it when they're drunk or horny, or whatever, and then later beat themselves up. Dunno if that's Gabe's situation, or if he's just a hypocrite. Or if he's been a Priest long before he got frisky with any guy.
In any case, yeah. Not cool. One of the major differences between us mortals and God is that we seem to put off difficult choices for as long as possible. But in the end, that just makes it worse.
