Be still, sad heart and cease repining
Behind the clouds is the sun still shining
Thy fate is the common fate of all
Into each life some rain must fall
Some days must be dark and dreary
-- Quote by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
Khatmedic gave my initial commission idea a slightly different spin than I originally intended, but these changes made the artwork resonate much more with me.

Not mine originally, got it from one of my wife's country/gospel songs she likes. But it is true. Everywhere on earth that gets no rain is a barren desert. A little bit of suffering helps build character and matures us. It can help us treat others better. Somebody who always gets what they want and have never suffered want can be... spoiled and lack empathy for the suffering of others. Does that make sense?

There's always a blend of nature and nurture in these situations. And yes, "can be" was deliberate there, but we all have different types of suffering and for many the suffering can cause bitterness too. Too much rain can wash away the soil after all if the foundation isn't strong.
