TwitterWhen animals considered to be "prey" by the apex predators of the world begin to band together for safety, where does it leave those caught in between?
Namely, a pair of pine martens, carnivores and flesh-eaters themselves, but small enough to be considered food for the bears, wolves and gluttons of the forest and field. They're on a journey to seek sanctuary with the rabbits, squirrels and other prey that have gathered to Oren--but they don't know if welcome or condemnation will meet them.

I'd rather see her survive and realize the error of her ways. Redemption can be as satisfying as seeing a villain get their just deserts.
If I had to guess, her overconfidence with her weapon will get her in over her head, someone else sacrifices themself to save her (Egg?), and that act gives her something to go home and rethink her life about.

In the FAQ here it mentions that the population overall is lower - presumably this means rabbits, squirrels, and so on breed much slower than their terrestrial counterparts - possibly to the point that there's a 1:1 ratio of predator and prey.
Given this seems to take place in a neolithic time period - possibly on the verge of the bronze age - it could be that farming is still new (where it exists at all). So larger predators like bears, wolves, gluttons and such are probably constantly looking for food and don't have much mental energy for anything else. They may even experience hunger differently than prey species, with it feeling like "angry wasps" about to sting them to death.
Somehow here in the Valley she's found enough food that she's no longer bothered by hunger. Her thoughts have quieted down and she can think about things other than simply where her next meal will come from.
