I don't know 100% all the details but as far as I know, the story is:
Skirmishers are radioactive foxes tied to the fallout universe (created by https://www.furaffinity.net/user/ga.....ielofcreosha/) The idea here is that because the landscape and terrain are so harsh for living conditions that if a kit or pack-mate falls behind, they are left behind. Pirate, the big one with the scar, was one such kit, until someone came by and helped her. Deciding she didn't want to see other fox kits suffer the same fate, she adopts them until they are fit enough to fend for themselves.
