I noticed that when you personify microbes, germs and cells, it naturally creates a very hostile relationship. Much like irl, the germs (some of them anyway) need hosts to live in. The cells naturally attack any invader regardless if they are beneficial to the body or not, because they are foreign. This was made obvious when the cell on the saliva boat nearly killed the small Spanish germ simply for invading their body, even though that little dude was harmless, and I’ve shown it again when the KT cell attacked the Spanish germ again in this host. In this case, it is ingrained in the cells to distrust any foreign organism (Thrax) even if he is clearly being beneficial to them in this situation. It creates a sort of race war between germs and cells that is eternal and on going, with both sides instinctually hating each other. Cells because germs pose the biggest threats to their city, and germs because regardless of their intentions they are either arrested or killed on sight by cells. It makes for a very interesting dynamic to add into a story such as this one.
In this scene, I had Thrax catch the enzyme shot with his supervirus reflexes (similar to his catching the germs hand in canon). I hadn’t originally had that in my story, but it was inspired by DamienMuerte in our roleplays when she had him do something similar. It makes sense since he is so lightning fast a lot of the time (his takeoff flight in the nose, the germ punch and his evasion of the antihistamine grenade). We already know he has crazy super strength, throwing cells a mile left and right like discarded clothing, so super reflexes suit him. It also rather matches that of the Matrix, which was a movie that gave partial inspiration for OJ (also hi Laurence Fishburne/Morpheus!).
