"A small marine reptile from the early Triassic, this creature was quite a puzzle to figure out. Our scientists are used to working with samples from Jurassic onwards, and it certainly didn't help that this creature's taxonomy is almost completely unknown. So, we guessed. Using the genetic material from living semi-aquatic reptiles, namely the Earless monitor lizard and the Southern water skink, and combining it with what little synthesized genetic material we had, we created this interesting creature. It is barely a meter long and, due to the vast differences between the species in it's genetic makeup, a relatively slender build. It has a long snout it uses to probe riverbeds for invertebrates. It lives in freshwater lakes and rivers on the island, and doesn't handle salt water well. Most unusually, they are capable of crawling onto land, where you can usually see large groups basking in the sun on the river banks. Their tail is prehensile and is capable of tying around underwater roots or rocks in the face of strong current. Many guests tend to confuse them with crocodiles, which can become a major problem when they sneak into the swimming pools to forage for leftovers. Other than that, they are very popular on boat rides due to their tendency to swim alongside boats and breach the water to get tourists to toss them food."
