Lupin in the anime has some heroic aspects and a conscience of sorts -- manga Lupin has neither. He actually rapes women on several occasions. It's all over much more darkly humored. Not to say it doesn't have its moments, but people looking for goofy friendly anime Lupin will be in for a shock if they read the manga.
